Well hello there fellow bloggers, long time no 'see'. I've been so wrapped up in the excitement of my new job and general January madness that I haven't posted in over a month, Shame on me! However I finally managed to scrape a few hours together at the weekend to romp around in the snow and shoot some pretty outfit pictures, the result of which can be seen above.

I'm still getting to grips with my posh new DSLR and will definitely need to invest in a remote to get the sharpness I'm really looking for, but I don't think these are half bad as a start. I've also booked myself on a portrait photography course in Birmingham via Groupon which I'm really excited about. If any of you Brummy bloggers are about on the day (tbc) it would be absolutely lovely to meet for coffee or something.

If you've been following me on Twitter recently you'll probably know by my lack of presence that I've been very busy over the past month, but I'd really like to get back into blogging properly now, especially after I've just spent a fortune on a fancy new camera, so expect to see me stalking your comment box any time soon.

The new job is going really well, although I'm absolutely knackered. All the time. And my social life is seriously suffering. On the upside I finally got my provisional driving licence on Saturday, so look out all you drivers I'll be hitting a road near you some time soon, I'd strongly advise you lock up any pets!

Apologies for the super quick summary but I'm in the process of compiling my 'January in Pictures' post (late as usual) and I'll bore you with all the gory details of the latest comings and going in the life of me then.

Ciao for now lovelies.

Month in Pictures: December

Happy New Year everyone!! I'm a bit slow on the up take as usual, but better late than never right? I know so many of you have chosen to do a recap of the last year on your blogs, but I decided after the pretty awful year I've had that I wouldn't bother and instead I would look to the future, or at least my not too distant past, so without further a due, here's my December in Pictures...

Loving: Christmas and NYE and anything that involved a glass of wine in one hand and a sausage roll in the other! I had a surprisingly lovely Christmas, spent with friends and family and an absolutely cracking New Year thanks to all my wonderful friends. I took a few photos of the presents I received (nothing too gratuitous), I was genuinely surprised to get so many lovely things knowing that my parents budget was very tight this year. I really wasn't expecting anything, but my amazing mother went out and bought me so many cute little things; The Little Guide to Vintage Shopping book, The Complete Photographer book, lots of vintage sewing magazines, the scull pendant, that adorable sock monkey (from Socky Wocky Woo) and lots more. I also got that cute little make-up holder and the make-up to go with it from my lovely sister, the tea-cup and saucer and trinket box and tea light holder from friends and lots of smellies and chocolates from the grandparents, don't they all know me so well? I truly love every present I received this year, which is good for me because I'm a classic 'Rachel Green' when it comes to returning unwanted gifts, just ask my exes!

Loathing: I don't want to jinx it, but at this precise moment in time I can't think of anything that's particularly upsetting me, I mean I'd much prefer the weather to be nicer or to drop a couple of dress sizes, but in general things are looking up, which brings me nicely onto my next topic...

My New Job: Yes you read it right, I've managed to bag myself a new job!! I will be working for a Derby Estate Agent as, wait for it.....drum roll...'Senior Negotiator', sounds fancy don't cha think? I'm not entirely sure what that entails, I think the plan is to try my hand at a bit of everything and see what suits, but I'm very excited and to top off the good news I finally received my redundancy pay check from my old job just in time for Christmas so I can actually treat myself a little, which is well deserved I think...

Listening to: Lots of 'Top 40' lately and am in desperate need of some new music recommendations, although I've just discovered and am loving Noah and the Whale's Last Night on Earth album, and after 28 years on this Earth I am finally getting into the Smiths...!

Eating: This is one of the reasons I love Christmas, the food, proper Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, chocolate, various buffet nibbles, chocolate, ferrero rocher, other chocolate, oh and chocolate?

Buying: I decided to treat myself to a pair of GHD's with my redundancy money. I've been desperate for a pair ever since my last pair died about three (whole) years ago, and let me tell you, I am very happy to be reunited. I also had a massive blow out on boxing day in the post Christmas sales, to see what I bought scroll down to my last post or click here.

Watching: The only thing I really need to mention here is Submarine, the coming-of-age comedy drama and Richard Ayoade's (The IT Crowd) directorial debut. I watched it at the start of the month and I still can't stop going on about it. It is now firmly established in my top 5 all time favourite films, the script is amazing and the cinematography is breath taking. If you haven't seen it yet DO IT RIGHT NOW. I'm also getting seriously into House, I'm about to start Season 6, is it wrong to have a bit of a crush on Hugh Laurie (especially as an old Black Adder fan)?

New Years Resolutions: 1) To pass my driving test within the next couple of months 2) To watch all the Top 200 films on the Empire Greatest Movies of all time list (I'm doing this with a friend) 3) To move into a house that I love 4) To spend more time with my family 5) To not to spend money on the unnecessary.

Finally: I know I said I wasn't going to do a 2011 recap, but this year has been life changing for me in so many ways. It's pushed me to limits I didn't even know were possible and as they say 'what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger'. I would like to thank each and every person that has helped me through the bad times and dragged me back into the good times kicking and screaming. I love you all. Here's to 2012!

Retail Therapy: Christmas Sales

Firstly I'd like to wish you all a belated very Merry Christmas and I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful day spent celebrating with your loved ones. Mine was spent a little lot hungover, but I received some lovely presents (more on those later), and loved spending quality time with my family and friends, and that (so I'm told) is what Christmas is all about.

So, as promised here is a small selection of the goodies I picked up in the boxing day sales...I have to admit I don't usually go shopping on boxing day, normally because I've spent all my wages on everyone else's Christmas presents and/or I'm still recovering from all the Christmas 'cheer'. This year was different, I finally got my redundancy pay check just before Christmas and it's been burning a hole in my pocket ever since.

I decided to hit Boots first after admiring all the pretty Christmas gift sets a few days earlier. This was a mistake obviously, as although I managed to get lots of lovely things for half price, I then had a huge bag full of heavy gift boxes to carry around with me for the rest of the day! I picked up the 'cute or what' lunch box and flask ready for my new job (more about the job in my next post), although I'm starting to think perhaps I should have choose something a bit more grown up? I also got both the Ted Baker AND the Hello Kitty Liberty print gift sets, the Mark Hill Gorgeous and Glossy gift set, a pretty heart shaped storage box and this cute little teapot shaped kitchen timer (after my last timer melted on top of the oven). I spent £30 in total, which ain't half bad considering that I could have bought all these things two days earlier for twice the price.

I then went on to Topshop where I picked up a few things that have been on my wishlist for a while now, namely this Peter pan collar smock dress, this spot devoree pencil skirt and this pansy print tunic. I also bought this raspberry skater dress and an 'Illustrated People' scull t-shirt as well as a few bits and pieces from the jewellery section.

After a quick and delicious eggnog latté in Starbucks I had a mosey around New Look. I went straight to the shoe section, which I was a bit disappointed with as I was hoping the get some new boots, but alas it wasn't meant to be, so I went on the check out what was on offer clothing wise. Here I picked up a maroon skater dress, a floral print skater dress, a blush chunky knit sweater, a black pea coat with fur collar and a beautiful satchel that was reduced to just £12 due to a small scratch on the front (none of these items are still listed on the website unfortunately so I couldn't post any links).

I decided this year as a general rule to only buy 'classic' items in the sales, things that will last me beyond January, and I think I've actually been quite successful. What do you think? Have you picked up any sales bargains?

Month in Pictures: November

Happy December lovelies, I know it's already the middle of the month and only 12 days till Christmas!! But before you completely write off November, here's my Month in Pictures....

Loving: Catching up with old friends, I'm not going to pretend I haven't enjoyed my time 'off work', lots of late night cocktails with no early morning hangovers and many many trips into town for a stroll around the shops followed by a good gossip over hazelnut lattés, and there's nothing like a mid week night out to make you feel young again.

Loathing: I feel bad even saying it, but I'm not looking forward to Christmas this year, I don't have a job and I still haven't received my redundancy paycheck, so right now it's looking like a lean Christmas, and I love buying presents for other people much more than receiving them.  Bah Humbug! :(

Listening to: A few weeks ago I went to a local gig to see a new up and coming folk band; Son of Eagle, they're very Mumford and Sons-esk, which personally I love, but I know it's not to everyone's taste. I thought they were amazing live and I'm definitely going to be downloading their album soon. I've also been listening to some oldies but goodies; Echo and the Bunnymen, Inspiral Carpets and Iron and Wine.

Eating: Some of my friends organised a French food and film night, I love love love French food, bread, cheese, pate; I could eat it all day long, so needless to say I enjoyed myself. I've also got a bit of an addiction to these amazing caramel cheesecakes from Sainsburys, they are To. Die. For.

Buying: I picked up this B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L satchel from New look a few weeks back for the quite reasonable price of £25 English Pounds. It was love at first sight, and it's not left my shoulder since. I've also added a few (more) new rings to my collection, those pictured are from Topshop, Miss Selfridge and JWLRY. I picked the five stone ring mix from JWLRY, which for £10 is a awesome deal, I might even get another set when I've got some money. I also went to a local vintage fair but didn't buy anything due to my serious lack of funds.

Watching: If you follow me on Twitter you'll already know that I'm a shameless Twilight fan and saw Breaking Dawn as part of a 'Twiathlon' held by Showcase Cinema's. Ten hours of Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and lots of unhealthy food - I've had worse days! I finally got around to buying the last series of Gilmore Girls and watched every episode in just two days (that's what happens when you're unemployed) I know it ended years ago, but it's my guilty pleasure and I never saw the final series.

Finally: I'd like to announce the winner of the Define Elephants Jewellery giveaway. The lucky winner is Sophie from The Story of a Girl who lives above her means. Congratulations Sophie, I'll be intouch to get your address details.

Inspired By: Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr, for those of you that don't know, is an Australian model best known for her work with Victoria's Secret.

I have to admit I'd never really paid much attention to Miranda Kerr in the past as most of the pictures you see floating around the Internet are of her semi naked, modelling seductively in expensive underwear, but after noticing a few photographs of her out of the studio I liked what I saw.

Miranda is not my usual style icon, she's much more polished but I love her simple style. She sticks to mostly neutral tones and looks effortlessly chic dressed in her signature fitted blazer and skinny jeans, but looks amazing it just about anything she wears from that gorgeous slouchy maxi dress to the cute leopard print skirt with flat Chelsea boots.

Ms Kerr certainly has been blessed, with her beautiful figure and stunning good looks, a successful modelling campaign and a happy marriage to gorgeous movie star Orlando Boom, will this girls luck ever end?

OOTD: Love Leopard

~ Outfit Details ~
Faux Fur Leopard Print Coat - New Look
Arizona Rock Tank Top - Topshop
Tan Bodycon Mini Skirt - New Look
Black Suede Loafers - New Look
Rings - Topshop / Primark
Cross Pendant - Topshop
Felt Boater Hat - Claires Accessories

Guess what? I finally got around to taking some new outfit photos! I'm not too impressed with the quality of these though. I think the pictures were taken from too far away, so when it came to editing them I had to zoom in quite a lot which has unfortunately distorted the quality, but at least I know for next time, right? It also looks like the tips of my hair are red when they're actually blondey brown, and I didn't even use a flash!

I didn't realise that the majority of my outfit is from New Look until I did the outfit list, which is a bit weird because I rarely shop there, but I had a 20% off voucher and I knew they had 'the' coat I wanted. So I finally own the perfect leopard print coat, I picked it up in the New Look kids section as they didn't have my size it the adult version and to be honest I actually prefer this as it's not quite as bulky as the adult version and was £12 cheaper so a snip at just £26.

I also picked up these loafers for only £16 with my discount, and for real suede I'm pretty impressed with the price and they're really comfortable, and they go with EVERYTHING.

In other news I got my official redundancy letter yesterday, confirming the final amount I'll receive at the end of this month (19 days and counting!!!) I felt a little sad, although this is what I wanted, it's like the end of an era, I achieved so much working in my current position and feel scared for the future, but it's time for a change. It's given me the opportunity for a fresh start and some very exciting times ahead.

I've added a few things to my eBay shop and I still have lots for sale in my Blog Shop, so if you get a spare few minutes why not pop over there and take a look.

Month in Pictures: October

I'm cheating a little here as some of these pictures were taken at the end of September, but I thought it was about time I filled you in on the goings-on in my life as it's been a while since my last update, and I'd quite like to make this into a monthly feature.

So without further adieu, last month I was:

Loving: As you can probably grasp from the majority of these pictures, I have a bit of an addiction to animal print, and it's gotten quite serious over the past few months. I've invested in a leopard print dress, scarf, sweater and I've finally got my hands on the perfect leopard print fur coat (don't worry I don't plan on wearing them all at once).

Loathing: Moving house, I finally said goodbye to my old place with a pizza and packing party. Unfortunately it won't be long before I'm moving again as I'll be unemployed officially on 10th November, so will move back to my parents house in preparation for my mini gap year. I've decided to do Singapore Vietnam and Thailand, departing early January. I have lots of other plans for my redundancy paycheck including finally getting my own DSLR, driving lessons and laser eye surgery, I seriously cannot wait for the New Year.

Listening to: I attended Derby's annual outdoor classical music concert at the end of September with all my friends and a big fat pic-nic. As usual the music was fantastic, but the fireworks are always my favourite part of the night. I've also been listening to the Mystery Jets, Ed Sheeran and Christina Perri, not too surprisingly I'm really relating to her latest album, Lovestrong.

Eating: I've enjoyed lots of delicious food this month, but I wanted to pay a special mention to Jack Rabbits who have just opened up in Derby and serve the most amazing sharing platters (anti-pasti sharing platter pictured above) all completely fresh and well priced for the ridiculous amount of food you get. I also had the most amazing steak and home made chips at The Greyhound, part of the Brewery Tap group.

Buying: Technically not a purchase, but I decided to finally get my fringe cut again and re-ombre my hair. I'm now trying to decide whether to have it properly cut, shoulder length, like this picture, maybe a bit longer, what do you think? I've also been buying lots of new nail polishes and have a particular love for some of the new metallic shades currently on trend.

Watching: I've seen a few films over the past month, but most notably Crazy Stupid Love, definitely one of the best rom coms I've seen in a long time (I am now in love with Ryan Gosling) and The Help an amazingly inspiring story surrounding extraordinary women in 1960's South America. I may have developed a slight girl crush on Emma Stone, the leading lady in both these films.

Halloween: I've seen all your pictures, now it's my turn. On visiting my parents a couple of weeks ago, my mother pulled out this amazing vintage leopard print catsuit and suggested I could wear it or Halloween. Being in the height of my animal print addiction I couldn't refuse. I feel like a bit of a cop-out though as the idea of Halloween fancy dress is to look scary and I don't think I pulled it off, but I had so much fun dressing up.

Finally: My friend has just adopted a little foster kitten, with a broken leg, and I couldn't possibly not include a picture. Cute huh?

To summarise, this month has been pretty good and things are finally looking up, well, they couldn't exactly have gotten any worse. I still can't wait for this year to be over so I can start looking towards the future and make a proper fresh start. Only 51 days till Christmas!!

Lastly, I wanted to say a quick hello *waves* to all my new followers and a big big thank you to all my loyal readers, you make me smile every day.
